Grave Torture starts off as a gripping psychological horror that isn’t afraid to challenge religious beliefs and personal trauma. The story follows Sita, a woman who witnessed her parents' brutal murder in her childhood, now trying to rationalize away the terrifying idea of grave torture rooted in Islamic teachings. The first half is tense and atmospheric, with solid performances—especially from Faradina Mufti—and a genuinely unsettling tone.
However, the film loses steam in the second half. The plot becomes fragmented, and some of the visuals, especially the CGI, feel cheap and distracting. Themes that were introduced with care early on end up either underdeveloped or abandoned. The ending tries to be profound, but instead feels like it’s preaching.
Overall, it’s an ambitious film with a strong start and a thought-provoking premise, but the execution stumbles. Worth watching for the first half and its boldness, though it may leave some viewers disappointed by the conclusion.
