Short Review: Jaat (2025) ft. Sunny Deol

Jaat starts off with a bold move—focusing entirely on the villain for the first half hour. Randeep Hooda as Rana Thunga is terrifying, commanding, and backed by an intense background score that makes his presence unforgettable. He’s not just a regular antagonist; he’s a force of nature, and the film doesn’t shy away from blood and gore. From chopping fingers to full-blown carnage, the movie earns its 16+ rating.

Sunny Deol’s entry is late but spectacular. Once he shows up, it's total paisa vasool (value for money). The action is ridiculously over-the-top but executed with such conviction and flair that it’s genuinely entertaining. Scenes like Sunny grabbing his tongue and flooring villains or using a fan as a weapon are outrageously absurd—and that’s exactly why they work.

The film looks and feels like a South Indian mass entertainer, despite being in Hindi. At times, the dubbing and tone shifts are awkward, giving off old Goldmines Telefilms vibes. Still, Jatt embraces its identity wholeheartedly and never backs down from being loud, exaggerated, and full of masala.

The second half, unfortunately, slows down. It dives into emotional melodrama and sidelines the central characters like Sunny and Randeep. Some sequences drag and could’ve easily been trimmed. However, the action choreography, especially in the police station scene, still delivers high-voltage entertainment.

Surprisingly, if I had to pick between rewatching Gadar 2 or Jaat, I’d choose Jaat—because despite its absurdity, it’s fun. The villain casting is spot-on, music is loud but occasionally impactful, and Sunny Deol proves yet again why he’s still the king of mass action cinema in 2025.

Verdict:
If you enjoyed Gadar 2 and are okay with mindless action and OTT drama, Jaat will entertain you. Don’t expect realism; just switch off your brain and enjoy the madness.
